Let me preface this by saying I am ready for the downvotes that inevitably come simply from being a teacher on this subreddit. I am sorry for the bad teachers you had in your past, you don't have to convince me they are out there, I have worked with plenty! Many of us, however, are passionate about the job, passionate about the kids, and full of simultaneous fear and excitement about going back. I am posting this to potentially provide some perspective to parents and the community about what we are grappling with currently with 1 week before we are back. We literally receive information about the back-to-school plan from Rob Fleming's press releases, or from the news. Over the summer, every decision that has been made has been made without direct consultation with the general teaching population and without any advanced warning or heads-up from our employer. I see many commenters on reddit asking why teachers aren't taking the summer to fully prepare their classrooms or their online, because we have no blinking idea what's happening.
